Individual psychotherapy sessions honor Jung’s theory that every client has a self-healing potential within them. The intention of treatment is to strengthen the client’s ability to access this inner shift and healing. When working with individuals, Liza’s combines practical interventions and strategies for life improvement while tending to messages from the unconscious that may take form in dreams, symbolism, patterns of behavior, repressed ambitions, desires and synchronicity.
Liza's style is intuitive, warm, result-oriented & directive. Her theoretical perspective combines Jungian Psychodynamic, Family Systems & Strength based Models. Liza is treating client’s for anxiety, depression, bereavement, life transitions, launching, Caregiver burnout, work related stress, and relationship issues. She is an expert at identifying patterns of behavior that may be blocking growth and well-being of her clients and offering solid and practical solutions for change.
Short and long-term counseling offered for a range of presenting problems including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, divorce, behavior issues, low self-esteem, academic problems, substance abuse, media addiction, peer pressure, life transitions, launching.
Modes of treatment may involve talk therapy, CBT, expressive arts, and behavioral intervention strategies. Collateral counseling with parent (s) is often recommended.
Family
Every family is unique, resourceful and comes with its own set of challenges based on inherited patterns of coping to stress, combined with the organic difficulties of life. Goals of family treatment are based on the presenting concerns of each family.
Common themes in Family Treatment may include: Uncovering existing strengths within the family unit, challenging and changing negative communication patterns, behavioral interventions for parents and children, supporting families through grief, loss and divorce and assisting families who may have a member with special needs, trauma or mental illness.
Parent Coaching
This program is designed to help parents gain skills to navigate the difficult challenges of parenting. Liza style is directive and goal oriented in parent coaching sessions.
Themes include setting boundaries, technology, co-parenting, transitioning, communication, single parenthood, parenting children and young adults with special needs and mental illness.
