Liza received her MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute where her studies emphasized a Jungian theoretical orientation. She did her undergraduate degree at New York University where she received honors in drama. It was in New York where Liza began her work with children & teens teaching theater and expressive arts to at risk youth.
Her clinical training included two years on the Childhood Trauma Team at Family Service Agency where she specialized in providing therapy to children and adults who had experienced trauma, abuse, loss and bereavement.
Liza is currently working in special education as the Educationally Related Mental Health Specialist of the Lucas Valley School District.
Volunteering at the Double H Ranch, an Adirondack Summer Camp for children with life threatening illnesses, forever has impacted Liza’s life. Started by actor Paul Newman and philanthropist Charles R. Wood, Newman believed that all children, including kids who spend much of their time in hospital, should be able to “raise a little hell”. She highly recommends supporting and /or volunteering at the “Ranch”.
A long-term practitioner of the Ashtanga Yoga system, Liza is grateful for her yoga teachers Sri. K Pattabhi Jois, Dena Kingsberg, Jack and all of the mentors who have guided her path.
